A majority fraction of plastic wastes originates from Metro areas and coastal cities. The generation of waste is one of the central concerns in urban agglomerations as only 600 urban areas with just 20 % of the world population generate 60 % of the GWP . These megatrends pose urgent challenges in cities as the cost of inaction is high.
At first, we should accept that "plastic" Is not bad! Why ❓ because, Technologies are developed to make our day to day lifestyle better, but the unethical and irresponsible use of any technology turns it against us. Can you think about "Laptop with Biodegradable Plastic! " Anyway.. The e-wastes are also the major concern. I just want to tell that Any technology should be used with some consciousness!
BTW, to reduce the plastic wastes - Public Awareness along with Government regulation is the only way.
It's not possible to prevent plastics being entering in to the ocean completely, yet it is possible to reduce it for some extent through several means, like awareness programs and strict actions by the government , of course it requires political and munciple engagement, However people's attitude also very important towards it, I believe strict actions by the government against plastic usage irrespective of places whether cities or rural area will be the best solution to reduce plastics and every universities, schools and colleges have to introduce a subject regarding environmental science where plastic usage and it's adverse effects and prevention are made mandatory.
Krishna Pada Singha sir what you said is absolutely correct. plastics made our day to day life way easier, became increasingly important packaging material worldwide because of its versatility, high strength, light weight, durability and low cost, multi utility, social benefits and ease of production. But now people not opting for rational usage and are generating more plastic trash than ever, and very little of it gets recycled. Plastics and their byproducts are littering our cities, oceans, and waterways and they entered in each and every ecosystem posing threats to all the living organisms. Very little efforts are directed towards this upcoming biggest threat.
Chandan Gm yes it's not possible to prevent plastics from entering in to the ocean completely but people by developing civic sense can use plastics rationally, recycling rates should be increased, reduction in manufacturing of unnecessary single-use plastics and strict regulations by both local and central governments may help to deal with this upcoming threat

We cannot imagine a life style with out plastic. Only thing what we can follow is responsible use and its management. Biodegradable plastics and natural materials had its own demerits.

However, I would like to add that people education and replacement plastic stuffs with sustainable material (where possible) should be the priority.
Management of plastic wastes is the collective effort, from the Governments to the manufacturers, and to the businessman to the ultimate users. Management of plastic wastes should start from every household and individuals level. Proper recycling of plastic, awareness among the users, and alternatives to plastics are few measures to reduce the plastic burdens.
