to prepare alkaline iodide sodium azide solution :
500g NaOH and add 135g sodium iodide and dissolved in 1 lit distilled water. Dissolve 10 g sodium Azide in 40 ml distilled water, stirring till cool. Mix both the solutions.
You should dissolve 500 g NaOH or 700 g KOH and 135 g NaI or 150 g KI in distilled water and dilute to 1 litre. Add 10 g sodium azide (NaN3) dissolved in 40 mL distilled water. The reagent should not give colour with starch when diluted and acidified.
