I have to perform the intrathecal injection for the mice of about 8 weeks. I am planning to use 31 gauze insulin syringe since we have larger Hamilton syringes only. Do you have any specific protocol for the intrathecal injection in mice. Video materials would be appreciated. If not could you please post some pictures and explanations?

The technique was originally developed by one of the authors of this study. If you check it, you will surely find the right way to perform intrathecal administration.

It is difficult to make the intrathecal method to obtain reliable results. After mastering is necessary to perform a statistical analysis of successful delivery. A well trained technician and in good condition has a relatively high probability of making failed administrations. Then you need to remove the uncertainty of false negatives.

It has been a while since your post but I was wondering if you had a protocol for the IT injection. I am successfully injecting between L5 and L6 but fail to illicit a tail flick and do not understand why, any help gratefully received
Yes there is a protocol published. Only some mice present tail flick (biologic variability), although the procedure was successful. Maybe you could use lidocaine and observe the results.
