I'm a new researcher and was hoping someone experienced with graphs could offer some advice.
I'm trying to copy the following graph (also attached to this post):

But in excel and SPSS each series must be modified individually! (line thickness, pattern, color, etc)
I have over 300 series and it'd be horribly difficult to modify each series one-by-one.
Similar to the linked graph, I'd also like to superimpose the median and 95%CIs of 2 groups on my graph.
Any help would be fantastically appreciated!
As far as I know, this graph can be made in R, with coding, but I'm afraid I don't know enough code right now to make it.
I am familiar with SPSS and am learning Stata.

The task is easy in R. Once you have worked out how to code one graph, you can either: 1) use a "for" loop to repeat 300 times, or 2) more idiomatically, use one of the "apply" functions to create all of the graphs. It's worth learning, as it makes life so easy!

if you save the data in long format, you can also use the ggplot2 package in R - you will get beautiful graphs with minimal code :)
It will require coding and that coding could be done even in spss (and probably even excel) Both Stata and R would be suitable, so its a matter of learning the techniques needed. In addition I suspect this graph comes from a specific package since it looks to map out patient trajectories, and thats not an uncommon thing to want to do (even if I do think you get plots that are more shiny than actually useful :P )

I will proceed to learn R as per your recommendations^^
The key is the use of just three colours. In Stata you can create this graph by using the scatterplot command, and using an if condition to make three overlaid plots. Connecting trajectories by id is easy. All you have to do is to sort the data by patient id and then by time. Stata has a connect option (I think it's connect(L) but I'm away from my desk rignt now) that will connect consecutive values left-to-right. When it encounters a value that is to the left of the last one, it starts a new line. Job done.
