I'm looking for a way to measure the temperature in a spraydryer. I'm not interested in the air temperature but the temperature of the dried particles. As the droplets evaporate water, the temperature is lower than the air temperature in the spray dryer. I would like to know if the droplets reach a temperature higher then 80°C when they are dried at specific conditions. maybe by adding some reagent like thermochromic ink?
Someone any ideas/experience on this?

This is a classical and important problem. Probably the simplest and cheapest approach is to use an IR optical thermometer. If you choose the wavelength properly, the air should not contribute to the signal but the particles well, and there a many of them capable of measuring temperatures in the range in which you are interested.
