We have been doing preparation of TiO2 thin films by sol gel method but we have not been able to get a strongly coated film. We also did not get a good crystalline XRD spectra. We used TTiP and Ethanol to make TiO2 solution and deposited the solution onto glass substrate by some methods such as spray, spin and dip coating. Do you have any suggestion? Thank you in advance.
To summarize you have a problem with the adhesion (wetting is a necessary but not adequate condition) between the coating (closed ? well looking ?) and the surface. I guess your pre-treatment of the glass substrate is not adequate (-> dirty surface). Cleaning followed or with insitu activation is an important step. You find multiple procedures in www and publications (also in our own). Eventually you need to modify the surface using silane chemistry. TiO2 is a “acid” oxide (Figure 6 “… synthesis and testing …”) hence APTES or APTMS will work.

Thank you very much for your kind answer and informative paper. Now, I will follow your advice to use silane chemistry and I just knew that TiO2 is "acid" oxide.
