Hello, everyone.

I am culturing E. coli K12 MG1655 now. I take it as wild type.

My labmates ask me how I confirm the bacteria are E. coli K12 MG1655 and are not other bacteria or other E. coli strains? ( since there are other E. coli strains in our lab, and the colonies look no different.)

They ask me to test which antibiotics can be used to select, but does it necessary? It is "non-antibiotic-resistance" strain, how can I select it by antibiotics???

I am so confused..

(BTW, sequencing every time is too money- and time-comsuming..)
