There are 3 antibiotics that used to give good results, but after few years efficiency is decreasing. Are there other ways to avoid contamination on glucose medium?
It is a difficult task !!! My suggestion is u can try for agar slants for heterotrophic medium !! I tried it worked !! But make sure that you are performing i a perfect sterile environment
Oh, that´s a headache! Try with some lysozyme treatment. It works for me.

You can try some other antibiotics also, which are not affects the microalgae.

I think it is not a good idea to use antibiotics. I practiced frequent sub-culturing and tried following sterilization guidelines strictly. Also please keep a backup of the culture in refrigerator (-20 degrees).

do you mean freeze the culture (-20ºC)? But then I need to add some glycerol to keep them viable after unfreeze, isn't it?
For me the strict sterilization procedures are expensive and not adequate for the aim of producing biodiesel, that is a cheap product.
