My results of mediation analysis shows following:
1) Negative and significant Relationship between IV - DV
2) Negative and significant relationship between IV - M1
3) Positive (but smaller value than IV-M) and significant relationship between M-DV
So mediation is established. However the total effect is larger than direct effect (same signs and significant)
I will be grateful if you can please advice what can I interpret from this results?
For what indicates both direct and indirect effects are significant that can be sign of a partial mediation, you must multiply the indirect effects to obtain the total and determine the type of mediation.
Is this result align with theoretical underlining??? it would easier if you could provide variable names... I am worried about your mediator.... Like IV increase so DV. IV increase MD increase... Here Mediator Increase DV could Increase??? if the preceding relationship is negative that is IV and DV....??

The M1 is the variable between IV and DV that makes the realtionship between the variable and working as a facilitator however the negative realtionship means an increase in IV cause a decrease in M1 so that with DV
