Hi, I'm investigating the brain networks in children using EEG signals during various cognitive task. I've gone through various thresholding techniques (absolute and proportional are most commonly used) to reduce spurious connections in the matrix. Do i really need to apply any of the thresholding method if i'm using weighted connectivity matrix?

Short answer: "no, you don't have to". Spurious connections are somewhat accounted for by lower weights in a weighted graph. However, be careful that you will are not going to tweak this variable until you get the results of your liking. That would be poor scientific practice. Think about what would constitute an acceptable/ideal theshold for your study, prior to seeing the consequences of that threshold. Good luck!
