I've just defrosted some J774A for the first time.
On thawing, the cells are small, round and not at all adherent... Is this normal?
Do I need to add collagen to make them adhere to the support (they're currently in T25)? Is there a more suitable support?
I use DMEM + 10%FBS + 1% Pen/Strep as a medium

No, you need not add collagen.
J774A, a murine macrophage cell line is semi-adherent i.e. some cells grow in suspension, some loosely attach to the surface and others flatten out and attach to the flask. Please note that they should be passaged by scraping. During subculturing, dislodge cells from the flask substrate with a cell scraper, aspirate and dispense into new flasks. The recommended sub cultivation ratio for J774A cells is 1:3 to 1:6. Replace medium two or three times weekly.
Cells should not be allowed to overgrow and become confluent as this can lead to a loss of the flattened adherent cell characteristic. DMEM + 10%FBS is the complete growth media to culture J774A cells.
