Our recent experiment requires the use of the enantiomer of etodolac. While using reported fractional crystallization or chromatographic separation generally results in a syrupy product. No crystalline solids can be obtained after further processing (amorphous, impurity). The refs. indicate that S-Etodolac (or R-) may exist in crystalline form with melting temt. at 138-140 degree centigrade.
