Hi everyone,

I have a marine bacterium, which belongs to family Fulvivirgaceae.

When I cultivate the strain on the artificial seawater (+0.1g/L yeast extract, 2.5g/L NaHCO3) without any carbon source, the strain still can grow on this agar plate.

I checked whether the strain consumed agar, but the area of agar under the growth did not show the liquified. I changed gellan gum instead of agar, without other carbon source, the strain still can show the growth (cells appeared in the third streaking line), under aerobic condition, limited of light.

Did you observe this phenomenon before? Could I conclude the strain having autotrophic lifestyle?

Thank you in advanced.
