Hi,

unfortunately for the detection of any analyte via HPLC one must have a chromophore in the analyte that absorb in the UV-vis range. Since guanidine.HCl lacks such a chromophore it won't be detected. The usual way for any such UV-Vis transparent analyte is to functionalize them with a chromophore but I guess that would rather complicate your issue.
