you can easily make a UDF in notepad by simply writing a code there. Steps are here as under:

Step 1. Write the code in the notepad. For example copy the following code in notepad:

/* UDF for specifying an x-momentum source term in a spatially */

/* dependent porous media */

/*******************************************************************/

#include "udf.h"

#define C2 100.0

DEFINE_SOURCE(xmom_source,c,t,dS,eqn)

{

real x[ND_ND];

real con, source;

C_CENTROID(x,c,t);

con = C2*0.5*C_R(c,t)*x[1];

source = -con*fabs(C_U(c, t))*C_U(c,t);

dS[eqn] = -2.*con*fabs(C_U(c,t));

return source;

}

Step 2. Now go to File>Save as>write file name and type ".c" (w/o quotation) e.g. type "user.c"

Step 3. Now you can simply interpret  udf  in in Fluent. In Fluent go to Define>User Defined>Functions>interpreted> read the file user.c

If it shows some error in programmed code  then you can edit the above programmed file by a right click and edit it in notepad.
