Basically its a graphical method for calculating the LD50. In this we plot Log dose or Log concetration on the X-axis Vs Probits of mortality on the Y-axis, for varied range of doses. Finally we mark the 50% unit on the Y-axis and extrapolate this to the log dose or log concentration marked on the x-axis.
Here first, we need calculate % mortality, then convert the % mortality to probits. The probits should be plotted on the Y-axis as stated before.
To find LD50 from probit calculation, there are probit softwares and the book of Finney D. J. 1971(Probit Analysis, third edition, Cambridge University Press, London).
I agree with Munira and send you my paprer about calculation LD50 and other LD values using methods of Finney and Miller-Taitner, using MATLAB. Send programs for calculation LD50 and other LD values in MATLAB to.
Use SPSS which is having elaborative output, and similarly CCSHAU's OPSTAT also upgraded their online software for analyzing probit (free to all users) and no download required.
