What are the possible parameters like (structure, thickness, grain size etc..) one can find using SEM images? How? what are software are available to analysis the SEM images?
If your SEM software is not supporting additional analysis, imageJ or Fiji, which is imageJ with all the add-ons, will help you a lot because it is extremely powerful. Also, it is free!
You can try to look on the cross-section (or fracture) of your sample and there you will find the required structure, thickness, comparing it to the scale bar.
You need to work and carry out measurements on stereoscopic pairs of SEM images. The Alicona Mex software ( http://www.alicona.co.uk/home/products/mex.html ) is probably the best to deal with measurements of this type - and a lot more, but it is expensive.
