Normally acidic dyes are using in silk fabrics. Acidic dyes are using in food coloring. Eg: Carmoisine C.I. No: 14720, Sunset set yellow FCF, NaCl added in the food coloring.What are the procedures to be followed to dye using this materials for silk fabrics.

In principle it will be possible to dye silk with the anionic food dyes that you mention, but don't expect great results. I would expect wet fastness to be fairly poor because most anionic food dyes are sulphonated monoazo colorants so they will probably have relatively low affinity for silk and this readily be washed off. Usually larger, more hydrophobic anionic dyes are employed in commercial dyeing of silk, which build-up more readily and have better wet fastness. If you do want to try applying food dyes, I would suggest a dyeing temperature no greater than 80-85C to avoid damaging the silk. In addition, use of acidic dyebath pH typical of those used for application of relatively low molecular weight acid dyes to wool will not be appropriate for silk as the fibre will likely become damaged - more neutral dyebath pH are required for silk but as a result dye exhaustion of the food dyes might not be so good. Certain food dyes are cationic, e.g. CI Food Blue 5 - I'd recommend avoiding use of them because they will likely be very substantive to silk, but you could end up with a patchy unlevel dyeing at the fibre surface only.
