The only recommendations with biotin labeled probes I find are in µl/ml but since the concentration of DNA can very especially after purification of the PCR product I am looking for a more precise recommendation in µg or ng of probe per ml hybridization solution.

Dear Victoria,
In our lab, we exclusively use for Southern hybridization digoxidenin-labeled probes, at the concentration of about 10 ng/mL of hybridization solution (we use a chemiluminescent detection system). If the target DNA sequence is very short, it is possible to increase the concentration of the probe.
