I plan to extract soil by cold and hot water for measuring water extraction carbon and nitrogen (WEC and WEN). Since I have lot of samples so I am thinking of store extractions (liquid) at 4oC in refrigerator for 3 days until measuring, I wonder is it an acceptable way?
For WEC it would be better to finish analysis with in 24 hrs after extraction even keeping in 4 oC, you can extract manageable sample size and analysis batch by batch.

Yes , you can easily store the soil water extract without much damage to the concentration of carbon and nitrogen...
I agree with Satyen, L'd suggest freezing f storing longer than 24 h, but you may need to experiment with what effect that may have on solubility after thawing.

I think three days should be acceptable for the 4 oC storage of soil extracts before analysis of total carbon and nitrogen. But you have to seal the containers tightly during storage. Prior to measurements, you need to take the extracts out to make their temperature similar to the ambient environment. I hope that helps.
