Hey Guys I have seeded HeLa cells (1000 cells per well in a 6 well plate). Is the density too low? Considering that they their doubling time is 33-26 hrs.
The surface area of a 6-well plate is 9.6 cm^2. The cell density in a 6-well plate at confluency is 1.2 x 10 ^6. If you seed 0.3 x 10^6 cells, then as per the doubling time mentioned by you (33-36 hrs.) it will take 66-72 hrs. for the cells to become confluent in a 6-well plate.
The cell density of 1000 cells per well in a 6 well plate is too low. You could use 0.3 x 10^6 cells as the seeding density per well in a 6-well plate so that you are ready for the assay within 72 hrs.
