When a signalling molecule binds to its extracellular receptor, usually the first reaction happens on molecular phosphorylation patterns of intra-cellular signalling molecules. It is a very quick process. But what about changes in mRNA production and even protein production? How quick are these responses?

For instance, if I give intra-aortic hormone to a mouse and keep some tissues before and after 3 minutes of injection, for sure I can detect some phosphorylation changes with western blot. But do you think can I get some changes in mRNA analysis with qPCR in this 3 minutes? Or protein changes with western blot?

Thank you very much
