Greetings,

I'm uncertain about how to handle self-weight in time domain analysis of a structure subjected to a dynamic load. I am thinking of three possible approaches:

1) Disregard self-weight entirely.

2) Perform a static analysis considering self-weight as one of the loads, then use the resulting displacements as initial conditions for the dynamic analysis.

3) Treat self-weight as a dynamic load with a constant value, adding it to the dynamic load at each time step during the time history analysis.

I would like to determine the correct approach among these three options. Alternatively, if there's another method, I'd like to know about it.

Thank you.
