I currently try to evolve a cell culture model with MSCs from tracheal aspirate of prematures. I would like to simulate an infection with gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria in cell culture. I used LPS from Merck to simulate gram-negative bacterial infection which worked fine. I tryed peptidoglycan from staph aureus for gram-positive infection (also from Merck Nr. 77140). I had some problems with PGN because it didn’t dissolve in water as recommended by the company and crystallized  during the freezing process. Has anyone here used PGN in cell culture and has a tip how to disolve it or used a product from a different company which worked fine? My colleague suggested to use an ultrasound bath over night to disolve it, but I am worried about the stability of PGN…

Thank you very much for your help!!
