How does Lipofectamine 3000 work?

On Thermo's site it says that cationic lipids mediate entry into a cell via endocytosis. Why does the cell uptake the lipid-plasma complex? After entry, how does the lipid-plasma complex escape the endoplasmic pathway and enter the nucleus? Finally, how do host transcription factors facilitate the transcription and export of foreign DNA?
