I have a very polar alcohol (soluble in MeOH, H2O, partially in heated DMSO). And a long chain fatty acid that I would like to couple. I can't find a common solvent for them. I can form the activated ester with EDC, but it won't proceed with the alcohol. I've additionally tried a solid-phase EDC coupling, as well as reaction via the anhydride. I've not yet tried an acid chloride route but, again, I've only found the alcohol to be soluble in water and alcohols. Thank you for any suggestions.
