I have generated solid model of human structure by MIMICs software and it was exported to .stl file, but when I am importing these files in CAD software (creo), I am unable to do geometrical operation (cut, merge) on these .stl file.
Any suggestion please.
I don't think you can apply these operations on geometry that it is comprised by 3D points, as in a STL file. You should either
- Fit a surface on your stl geometry, this is the hard way, or
- Use an appropriate software which permits editing of a stl file.
Yes Mr. Georgios Maliaris is right. But, is their ant software do do this or ant method/procedure to convert in other format so we can edit these geom.
You need special software for editing STL files. Are you looking for open source? If so, check out Blender, MeshMixer, and Netfabb. If you are looking for paid software, the best is probably Magics, but there is a new tool from Ansys called SpaceClaim that seems like it might be pretty good.
To do operations on stl file in Creo, restyle module is needed (using this module surface can be generated from stl model) after that we can do any operations.
By Using Autodesk inventor we can edit STL file By using Mesh enabler add-in. But in my opinion this is not that much promising

According to me you should go on with using Blender, U can import a STL file in it. Plus it has inherent python programming facility where you can program whatever parameters you need to change.
If you have access to Rapidform XOR3 (it has been acquired by 3D systems lately) you can try the autosurface module, if you have a fairly simple geometry and acquracy is not of much importance. I've done it many times in order to import meshes from rhinoceros to ansys.
I've had success with Blender (open source) like some of the commentors above. Also, if you have MIMIC's there is an add-on ("3-matics"?) that has the functions you are looking for.
My suggestation is if you have access to CATIA V5 then in its wireframe mode you can generate the surfaces and easily work on it. I have tried with it in one of my online downloaded geometry.
