Magnetoelasticity is produced when it is applied an elastic strain on a ferromagnetic elastic materia and the magnetization of the material changes or viceverse. The important is that there is a transformation of magnetic energy in mechanical or viceverse. Like the piezolectricity effect which transforms mechanical energy in electric one or viceverse. The main cause of these effects is the application of an external sound (mechanical vibrations) on the materials.
The magnetostriction is the change of form or volume during the change of magnetization. The main source of this effect is due to the application of an external magnetic field.
