I was trying to mimic the deflection of a cantilever beam in wire on to a model with a portion of the beam replaced by a spring which provides a bending stiffness. I gave a usual spring with stiffness values and tried with fixed degrees of freedom as well as along the direction of action but still, the Abaqus run was aborted. Please suggest any methods to do this!

You can define an elastic type material and assign a section to wire by definition a cross area for beam ( wire ) instead of using springs.
Are you forced to use spring in your simulation?
This model requires one more spring with degree of freedom 2 (in Edit Springs/Dashpots dialog box) to transmit not only bending moment, but also shear force.

I see two issues with your model:
- First of all, if you want to have also bending stiffness, why not use beam finite elements that are able to undergo transverse loads?
- Also, assuming that you are supposed to use springs in your simulation, from the print-screens you have provided I see that you have defined the correct degree of freedom, but in order to have the simulation completed you might have to assign BCs that permit deformation only on the XY plane. This BC should be applied to all the nodes of your model.
Nevertheless, as Amirhossein Ghamarian suggested, if you are interested in bending, then beam finite element formulations should be used instead of truss FEs.

Amirhossein Ghamarian Hi, actually the intent of this model was to understand how to apply the joint characteristic using wire elements or connectors or springs on to a geodesic dome model.
