The effectiveness of mind management-based interventions in Adolescent well-being,

Empowerment, and Academic performance

Introduction

According to a research article by Tamilselvi et al., 2010 mind management approach

handles a difficult situation, helps teachers for good performance as well as builds

trustworthiness, and holds learners accountable for actions by avoiding wasting time. In recent

times, the concept of mind management has gained significant attention, and its potential to

enhance the quality of life has been acknowledged by many researchers and practitioners. The

concept of mind management refers to the techniques and practices used to regulate the cognitive

and emotional states of individual learners.

The ultimate goal of mind management is to promote positive mental states, such as

resilience, well-being, and self-awareness. This research proposal aims to explore the practice

and effectiveness of the Mind Management Approach (MMA) in the Kanchan rural metropolitan

of Rupandehi as an intervention to improve the psychological well-being of individual learners

(Swami Mukundananda, 2020) . The application of the mind management approach in teaching

and learning is the use of mindfulness practices in the classroom. Mindfulness is a mental state

that involves paying attention to the present moment with a non-judgmental attitude. Many

research has shown that mindfulness practices can help students to reduce stress, improve

cognitive functioning, and enhance academic performance (Ostermann et al, 2022) .

The MMA is a holistic approach that focuses on enhancing the individual's mental and

emotional states through various techniques such as mindfulness, cognitive-behavioral therapy,

and positive psychology interventions. The MMA has been shown to be effective in reducing

anxiety, depression, and stress levels in individuals (Germer & Siegel, 2012) ., (Schure et al.,

2008) . Moreover, studies have also shown that MMA can improve cognitive performance,

increase positive affect, and enhance overall life satisfaction (de Vibe et al., 2017., (Quaglia et

al., 2016) .

Regardless of the potential benefits of the MMA, there is still a need for further research

to examine its effectiveness in different populations and contexts. Therefore, this proposal aims

to explore the effectiveness of the MMA on the psychological well-being of individual learners

especially Adolescent girs in different settings of the Kanchan rural municipality of Rupandehi.

Overall, this research proposal aims to contribute to the existing literature on mind

management approaches and their effectiveness in improving the psychological well-being of

adolescents. The findings of this study could have significant implications for mental health

practitioners, educators, and policymakers, as well as individuals seeking to enhance their mental

and emotional states.

Rationale:

The mind management approach is a relatively new concept that focuses on developing

cognitive and behavioral strategies to promote mental well-being and prevent mental health

problems. This approach has been successful in various countries, such as India and the United

States, in improving mental health outcomes. However, there is limited research on the

effectiveness of mind management in Nepal, particularly in rural areas.

The Kanchan Rural Municipality of Rupandehi district is a rural area in Nepal that lacks

access to mental health services. The nearest mental health facility is located in the city, which is

approximately 15 kilometers away, and there is a lack of awareness about mental health issues in

the community. Therefore, introducing the mind management approach in this area could be a

viable strategy to promote mental well-being and prevent mental health problems.

Objectives:

The primary objective of this research is to investigate the effectiveness of the mind

management approach in promoting mental well-being and preventing mental health problems in

the Kanchan Rural Municipality of Rupandehi district. Specifically, the research will aim to:

1. Assess the mental health status of the adolescence using standardized measures.

2. Knowing the factors affecting / contributing to the mental wellbeing of adolescent girls.

3. Implement the mind management approach Adolescent girls through workshops and

training.

4. Evaluate the effectiveness of the mind management approach in improving mental health

Adolescent

5. Identify the challenges and opportunities of implementing the mind management

approach in the rural context of Nepal.

Purpose:

The purpose of this research is to explore the effectiveness of the mind management

approach in promoting mental well-being and reducing stress among the Adolescents girls of

Kanchan Rural Municipality, Rupandehi. The study will examine the impact of mind

management techniques, such as mindfulness meditation and cognitive-behavioral therapy, on

individual learners' mental health and their ability to cope with daily stressors of classroom

diversity learning (Khoury et al., 2013) . The research aims to contribute to the development of

evidence-based strategies for improving mental health and students-teachers daily performance

in rural community schools.

Research question

How do individual learners in Kanchan Rural Municipality view and experience mind

management approach (MMA) as methods for enhancing their mental health and coping with

stress of diverse learning?

Or

How do the mind management Approach (MMA) affect Adolescent wellbeing

empowerment and education process?

Proposed methodology:

When conducting research purposive sampling will be used to select participants for the

study based on their experience with mind management approach in diverse learning. Required

data will be collected through semi-structured interviews (McIntosh & Morse, 2015) with

participants to gather their perceptions and experiences of mind management approach in diverse

learning. Participants will select through purposive sampling technique (Etikan et al., 2016) .

Audio or video recording devices will be used to record the interviews, which will then be

transcribed and analyzed for themes and patterns. For the purpose of data analysis, the thematic

analysis (Braun & Clarke, 2012) will be used to analyze the data collected from the interviews.

The data will be reviewed to identify patterns, themes, and categories that emerge from the data.

If needed coding will be done to label and organize the data into categories that will aid in

identifying themes.

Ethical considerations:

Participants will be informed of the research purpose and consent will be obtained from

them. Confidentiality and anonymity of the participants will be maintained, and data will be kept

secure. To ensure the trustworthiness of the data, member checking, and peer debriefing as well

as data triangulation will be done. A detailed description of the research design, methodology,

and data analysis will be provided to enable others to assess the validity and reliability of the

study. I as a researcher will be aware of my own biases and preconceptions and will document

my reflexive process throughout the study. This will involve acknowledging researcher

positionality and its potential impact on the present research process and outcomes.
