Immediately after moving the electrode under the objective, the electrode drifts ~50um (x,y, upwards in the z) and then slows down. after 10 min, the drift is slow but constant (~1um/ minute).
We already sent the micromanipulator motor (MP 225) back to sutter instruments and they did not detect any drift, however in our rig the electrode clearly drifts under 40x video objective. Drifting occurs when the amplifier is off, and even when the micromanipulator is off. we switched the manipulator controller with another functional one and it still drifts. we suspect the motor, but again sutter techs said no problem.
also noticing low frequency vibrations (~0.5 Hz), even though our antivibration table is working. vibrations seem spontaneous and independent of outside vibrations (jumping up and down next to the table doesnt vibrate the electrode.
