Colleagues, I stumbled on JASP, which is a free and open-source program for statistical analysis supported by the University of Amsterdam. How credible is the software as an alternative to the SPSS?
As an alternative to SPSS, I would suggest Jamovi. It has similarities with JASP because the development teams have had some people in common, but JASP was introduced to focus of Bayesian statistics and Jamovi is intended to provide a free and better alternative to restrictive software including SPSS.
Once you get accustomed to the interface and operations of Jamovi, it is much more friendly and intuitive than SPSS. Jamovi is being improved pretty fast and the developers are open to suggestions and feedback as well.
I personally have almost completely migrated to Jamovi from SPSS.
I am learning to use JASP, I have used SPSS and JASP side by side and found almost the same results. The output of JASP is precise and is in APA style you do not have to select results to report and format the table. The utmost benefit of JASP over SPSS is its flexibility: your output will be automatically updated when you update your data.
