Can it be considered that, ecology is a basic natural science and environmental science is an applied science, Which apply the ecological knowledge for human welfare.
How would you define 'environment'. Every aspect in the world is environment for something (e.g. abiotic or biotic bodies). For instance, people in quantum physics study 'environments' of waves or particles, people in chemistry study environments of molecules (e.g. ambient temperature), people in medicine may investigate body environments of blood, food, micro-organisms etc. In a broad sense, every discipline can find its place under the heading 'environmental sciences', or not?
Environment science focus on the relationship between mankind and their living environment(abiotic factor ) while ecology science focus on the relationship within life organisms and interaction with their environment(abiotic factor ) , part of environment science is included in ecology science logically, because mankind is included in organisms ,the two disciplines intersect mutually now
The ecology is the science that studies the mankind (biotic factors) and their environment (abiotic factors how weather and geology), distribution, abundance and how these things are affected by the interaction between environment and the organisms.
The environmental science is a scientific discipline with a principal objective is research the relationship between the nature and the mankind. Therefore implicate a multidisciplinary study that have a different elements how study of environment problems and the purpose of sustainable development models.
Hi! May be I am late to respond your question msg posted two days back seems the question raised Jan end itself anyway.
Probably as per the definition wise we may differentiate “Ecology” and “Environmental Sciences”. Both are interrelated, we cannot distinguish from each other. You too mentioned and whoever posted too. Ecology simply interaction between biotic (organisms) and abiotic factors (environment) also called "Bionomics". Hope you all are well versed no need to explain.
Marcel raised an interesting summary about "Environment", perfectly suit up to the word environment. We cannot include the branches what he mentioned quantum physics etc. under Environmental Sciences though ES has broad meaning. Just fit only for organisms (biotic factor) that live in the environment (abiotic factor)
