I assume you saved it as a png image from Haploview. If the quality is not good enough I suggest to try to vectorize the image in Adobe Illustrator. Change the settings until you get the best possible result. Import the image by File/place. In the top meny go to Objects/Live trace/tracing options. There are some presents to choose from which can be further modified. Be sure to check the "Ignore white" buttom and check the "Preview" buttom for live preview of any changes made.
Yes, the software tries to break down line drawings and images sort of "pixel by pixel". You set the threshold for the process. Essentially, you should after this be able to zoom in a lot without losing resolution.
Now more familiar with Haploview and image file formats, I can now answer my own question:
Definitely save the triangle plots from Haploview in .svg file format (vector format) and edit this file in programs like 'inkscape' or 'GIMP' where several export options are available... really good results this way.
I have tried to do export the LD triangle using .svg in PC and Mac but Haploview stops working and I got a message that says "Fatal Error: java.lang.OutOfMemoryError:Java heap space". I have tried also exporting the image as .png but I can't cause it says that the file is too large and the compressed file does not show anything. Any suggestions?
I just now tested to export a LD plot as per Jacob's suggestion above in both png and svg format and it works fine (MacBook Pro -2015 OS 10.10.5). Have you updated java? Try also to quit all other windows/programs and try again - it could be a issue of memory (RAM).
