Hi all, I work on piezoelectric energy harvester which has a doubly clamped beam structure with proof mass at the center. I simulate using both COMSOL and ANSYS but facing few issues. I use AlN as piezo material in d31 mode, which is c-axis oriented. The simulation results are unsymmetrical. Kindly help me how to specify the orientation and polarization direction during the simulation. Thank you.
There are some examples and specifications in the internet websites. You can search and review the input method of piezoelectric material characteristics in ANSYS. Thank you. I had used the file to understand how the polarization direction is specified and changed my matrix accordingly. But I dont understand why the z-axis polarized matrix give me weird results whereas y-axis polarized (as mentioned in the file) gives results as expected. I would like to know how the matrix elements are related to model coordinate system. Thank you very much.
please make sure if you are using the proper notation for indexing for example in IEEE standart for piezoelectricity
xx:1, yy:2, zz:3,xy:6 etc. check and see if you follow the same convention that ANSYS or Comsol is currently using.

assume that the polarization axis is z. Then, we have 2 options, positive direction (+z) and negative one (-z). How can we specify it in the piezoelectric beam?
In bimorph beam, we have a substrate and 2 piezo materials that batch to top and down. They polarize in the same axis but in different directions, + and -
