Hello!
I want to apply (or impose ) welding residual stress on deck plates of a box girder that is modeled in Ansys workbench. I've imposed initial deflection before. now I just need to apply residual stress. I don't want to analyze any other welding parameters like heat or speed of heating and everything. I don't want to simulate the welding process, either. So, How can I do that?
I really need your guide. Please help me if you know.

Have you already got the stress field which you want to apply to your model? If yes then you can map those stress fields to your model. Otherwise, you will have to first simulate the residual stress due to welding.
Have you got any prediction for the residual stress profile . I mean residual stresses have a profile that is so common. For example, Aluminum have a profile that is tension in the welding zone area and converts to compression near sides away from the welding zone. Books and researches usually use a best fit formula to represent these residual stresses to do some future analytical calculations. I don't know if that will be helpful for you? but, I realize that this formula will give a prediction for the residual stress value. Otherwise, the procedure of doing simulation analysis will give you what you need but, it will need for long time and efforts.

I know the residual stress and the distribution. but I don't know how can i apply ore simulate it into my model.
it is a residual stress as a result of thermal effects. I think 400 deg is the temperature were stresses accumulate, and I would recommend a temperature load.
you obtained the "residual stress" with some thermal assumptions. put the thermal assumptions on the main model.

residual welding stress results from the weld cooling, right? after every thing else cooled, the exposed leg of the fillet went from 400 deg F to 80 deg F, roughly. if you put a (negative) - 320 deg thermal load on the exposed face you will get close. that is how we model prestress in concrete, but that is a fabricated thermal load. you have a real thermal load.
that is the simple way. there are more complicated tools. use the easy one first. and as mentioned welding sequence, preheat, material are complicating factors. FEA only takes care of geometry.
