It might be that you need to set a different locale settings:

Or you can try to manually change them in the output.

There is one trick that you can use (be aware that this trick doesn't affect on results) :

for mentioned variable change the type of variable,go to Variable View window at SPSS then change the Type of variable to string then enter your variable in Data View window in format that you want( for example 0.01) now if you make your graph it shows 0.01 instead of .01

Not sure how correct is to change the variable type from numeric to string. Also, SPSS does not allow you to perform many statistical operations on a string variable.

Go to variable view change data type to string then add your data the way you want it in the data view window. This will appear the way you entered it in your graph. Hope this helps.

Have you tried applying the format statement for the variable whose output you wish to have a leading '0'? e.g.

FORMAT var Fw.d

w is total width including a marker for the decimal plac,e, d is number of columns to the right of the decimal point

Dear Laura,

As I understand Joacim did the necessary statistical tests for his paper he only want to has acceptable format of number for showing results in figure,my suggestion can help him to make the numbers of figure in a way that journal wanted him .you can test it, it will work for showing the numbers with decimal also it doesn't change the answer that figure show to reader .

your proposals don't work! If you convert the variable to String, it will be treated as a categorical variable in the plots, with the consequence, that all ticks are equally spaced, regardless of the actual values and distances. Furthermore, a tick is placed for every value of this variable.

@Howard - have you tried it? I think its not helpful at all.

have a look at your x-axis. Your ticks are at -0.02, 0.01, 0.02, 0.05 and 0.1; all equally spaced in the plot but obviously not equidistantly distributed in the data. Got it?

Did you ever figure out your SPSS problem? I have had exactly the same issue. I got round it by inserting a '0' as a leading character in the properties window. It gets more difficult if you have a mixture of '0s' and '1s' as I did in another scatterplot. For this I simply added a text box and moved it as close to the rest of the digits as possible. Hope this helps!

I had the same problem and was able to find some sort of a solution by changing the variable type into Restricted Numeric, with width 1 (after taking a copy of the original variable). Then adjusting the decimal places etc. in the chart editor. I am using version 22.

The Answer is easy

go to option in edit menu

select currency

use one of the format CCD

put 0 in the prefix
