I do the extraction from powders with various solvents (ethanol, acetone) and I would like to express the result per liter. do I have to change the calculation formula?
May I ask why you want to calculate in values per litre? You extract it with ethanol or ethanol and then remove the solvents to get a dry matter of an extract. You calculate the polyphenol content per dry mater of the extract on weight to weight basis. This can also be translated to the original dry matter of the plant material again on weight to weight basis. Unless you are making a standardised extract, say for a medicinal use, which is unlikely in your case, you are better of determining polyphenol content for dry matter instead of per litre basis.
thank you for your suggestion, in both articles the results were expressed as mg GEA/100 g of dry substance, but I want to express my result as mgGAE/ L.
What is the final volume of your extraction solvent? You can express the final yield of GAE per X litre (mg/L) wherein X is the final volume of your extraction solvent(s).
