I model reinforced concrete continuous deep beam but I get large deformation. And in the warning box there is a message related with interaction between steel plate and concrete (I use tie interaction between them). There are also additional message, I attach below. how can minimize this problem?
hi i think you have a problem with properties of the materials. i have worked abaques before and as i remmember i have the same problem. i think it was because of material properties.
have you used geometry non linearity. If yes then, solve initially with lower no of time steps and then try to increase the complexity of the problem (like contact - change from frictional if any to bonded).
Do you use some kind of damage model? If so, it may be that the badly deformed elements do not carry any stresses (in which case they are o.k.).
Otherwise, I think this deformation would hint at a problem in the definition of the model or the material.
Amin Bagherzadeh Azar I change the material properties and also the steel plate from deformable body to discrete rigid but the steel plate is highly penetrate in to the concrete beam. I think the penetration of the steel plate has a great effect on the deformation of the beam so how can minimize this penetration.
