Please can someone send me some links to read about dual roles of antioxidants in normal cells and in cancerous cells. How does an antioxidant molecule protect normal cells from oxidative stress and on treatment of cancerous cells with this molecule cause oxidative stress with upregulation of apoptotic proteins

Apart from its radical scavenging role, Curcumin is used as a photosensitiser in the so called "photodynamic therapy of cancer". It induces apoptotic cell death upon ROS generation in order to reduce tumor.
By generating ROS (free radicals) which scavenge molecular Oxygen, and hence cause Oxidative stress in cancer cells and leads to apoptosis (Extrinsic Pathway) while in normal cells no ROS produced as curcumin might find its suitable acceptor.
