Indeed both biotic and abiotic stress factors are both hazardous to the environment and cause degradation to the soil. However, in terms of comparing the extent to which each of these factors affects soil degradation, I think it is the abiotic stress factors.
Biotic stress factors such as insects, fungi, pathogens and the like could cause great havoc to the destruction of the soil like army worms in Ghana that is destroying crops and the soil on a grander scale. Yet, these can be mitigated somehow by the use of the pesticides and the like. However, destructions of the soil are vast and very dangerous when abiotic stress factors such as temperature, drought and the like are involved. They can make arable lands lose the nutritious state of their soils.
Therefore, there is the need to intensify research works that look into all forms of human activities that aggravates the destruction of the environment paving way for the more heinous abiotic stress factors.
