I am interested to know what are the possible applications of ResearchGate. I will appreciate if you would write how you are utilizing researchgate. Why should one use ResearchGate?
Researchgate suprised me in a way that I was not expecting. I work with A. aegypti and Wolbachia, and here I was and still being able to have my questions answered by a lot of people with the most variable and great opinions which always adds a different point of view based on their own private perspective.
It's a great way to connect, and perhaps collaborate with people from all across the world. It tries to fill in the scientist's need to connect with other researchers in their domain of expertise or even new techniques that they need some guidance in. There's also some articles that I find here on ResearchGate, and it's nice to have a social infrastructure where you can ask questions to the author(s) of the publication. The atmosphere here is quite suitable to ask even the most basic questions in a topic to get some guidance and direction of where-else to look.
Its extremely helpful. Many a times, when I am stuck with experiments, I ask for suggestions, and I get useful suggestions here. Researchers around the world go through the initial standardization whenever they start/design new experiments. Generally, one can not find in research articles the basic notes/suggestions/precautions related to initial experiments, which can really affect the results. It only comes by experiencing it yourself. There is when researchgate really helps, people share their experience and give good suggestions. I am really lucky and happy that I am a part of this platform, and will try my best to be an active member in future also.
In my humble opinion I think it helps you get views of expert from the field of course only member of research gate. I also feel we can work on lines similar to OSDD which is sharing ideas for something good to society on long run. I use mainly bioinformatics forum as there are thousands of software available these days and so I wish to know pros and cons of one another and that is where research gate comes in handy.
Number of networking sites are flooded now a days, ResearchGate is a good option to be in touch and get benefit from expertize of scientists of repute and brillient young minds as revealed from queries and answers to them. it helped me in finding some useful links of my field.
Scientific social networks are relatively helping in getting information on the need of user oriented problems, latest tools, softwares and protocols from a vast pool of information that is divulging everyday. Scientific Discussion and opinions are always good from different mindset and perspective on a single platform . But also the cons of social networking in scientifoc field, that will appear in coming times will be the advertisement of research articles to gain citations and it will work unfortunately towards unidirectional research practice.
ResearchGate is a good network for having answers to various scientific questions: scientists with different expertises in several scientific areas discuss, writing opinions with varied perspectives.
Moreover, here some scientific papers may be retrieved.
Thanks for excellent response to my query. I am using this from last month actively and realize here discussions are focused. I believe this is the best platform for sharing our research with other colleagues, asking any research related question and solution to our problems.
