I m working on hydrogen embrittlement issues which comes when working on high strength materials like HSS , titanium , high strength aluminum alloys etc. I want to know about coatings to reduce the external hydrogen embrittlement problems which is likely to occur in fasteners and high pressure hydrogen storage tanks.I studied about graphene and niobium coating to reduce this embrittlemnent problem. but still i want to know about more coatings to reduce this problem and also its availability.

I know that for high strength steel you can use titanium nitride coating or sometime tin oxide will work for other materials. Titanium nitride works under high pressure and prevent the hydrogen from causing embrittlement.

your question is very common. Please make it more precise. What material under which working conditions and environment do you study. The maximum temperature and presence or absence of a phase transformation for example is extremely important for coatings. There are hydride forming materials and like iron non hydride forming. And it is not so obvious that in both cases the solution will be the same. In some cases the internal structure is very important and during the coating deposition microstructure can be changed which decrease the initial material properties - also important. In general, I think one cannot eliminate the hydrogen embrittlement completely, but only slow it down.
