Aqueous alcohol (80%) is most suitable for phenolic extraction of any fresh / fleshy fruit. For this

1.       Transfer healthy fruit sample in deep freezer for 7-10 hours.

2.       Chop the sample by knife.  

3.       Immediately after chopping, allow the fruit sample to freeze dry completely using a lyophilizer instrument.

4.       Crush to make powder from lyophilized and dry fruit sample.

5.       Mix powdered sample in aqueous ethanol / methanol vigorously.

6.       After suitable incubation in shaking incubator at optimum temperature, filter the mixture through Whatman filter paper.

7.       Prepare a composite filtrate by repeating former two steps three or four times.  

8.       Condense the composite filtrate using Rotary evaporator and then use as working extract for further tests/analysis or store at low temperature.

Most of polyphenols requires tailored procedures for the follow-up of purification by NMR and HPLC. http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S2095177912001426 dry fruits can be obtained by freeze dry using CO2 dryice and alcool solutions or liquid nitrogen on residual from a juice press.

Please make also sure that you lower the pH of your extracts < 3. Above a pH of 3 phenols tend to oxidise much more rapidly.

It would be possible to dry your extract by using a suitable freeze dried
