I am looking for a way to produce high 100ug to 1mg amounts of proteins that are insoluble expressed in E. coli. I thought that cell free extracts might be a way to do this. These are bacterial proteins but I haven't been able to get soluble production of them in E. coli cells. There are various systems out there, such as these: http://www.lifetechnologies.com/order/catalog/product/K990100

and

Does anyone here have any experience with these or other cell free extracts for transcription/translation, and if so are they worth it?
