Because of logistics I have to store my stained and fixed cells for 3 days before flow cytometry. Has this ever worked for anyone? I am used to staining and analysing on the same day...
Yes you can fix/stain cells and store them for many days (or weeks) without loss of signal. I do this frequently and have no problems. Just be sure to cover your samples with foil and store them at 4 degrees C.
In my experience, the bright colors (e.g. PE and APC), but not the dim colors (e.g. FITC), are fine for a week for flow cytometry after sample staining/fixing. However, it's better to use them a day or two after the fixation. Hope it helps :)
