what is your interest among higher studies in civil engineering, are you interested in Geotechnical Engineering related research. In today scenario, fast development in urban areas leading to new construction activities are established very closer to the existing structure and there is a need to check the stability of adjacent structures. topics related to this work is the effect of tunneling, excavation or embankment closer to the existing structure. Also, the utilization of industrial waste is very problematic and the topic related to this aspect also good. The topic on infrastructure development and composite structure is catching up. all the best in your Ph.D work..

Sir, I had done My PG in Structural Engineering. Thank you for your suggestion. I too tried to check some topic based on composite structure but the problem is that every paper I read, it comes up with FRP, I am not able to find anything new and also it again confuses me.

I am basically Geotechnical Engineer and understand about your feel. I suggest you to apply any one of the institute in which you would like to do Ph.D. Once, selected for the programme, keep interacting with the teacher and you will find better topic for  your Ph.D work.  I suggest you to find out the institute in which you would like to do Ph.D and better identify some professor from the institute, Then , you discuss with Professor to whom you like to do Ph.D. Further, you have to prepare your own topic for the work and discuss with the teacher. I am sure if your very serious in doing Ph.D then follow this step. all the best..
