In a RC beam with CDP model
i included field output request as E for total strain, however while getting the output i'am getting the LE output only which is the "logarithmic strain".Is it because my strains are very large (its a non-linear problem) and taking the antilog we will get the desired strain?
In Abaqus/Standard, output identifier E gives you the total integrated strain. There is no simply-defined expression to give this quantity in terms the logarithmic strain LE.
Perhaps you're trying to find the engineering (or Cauchy) strain, in which case the expression for logarithmic strain (let's call it εlog) in terms of engineering strain is:
εlog = ln(1+εeng)
where εeng is the engineering strain. However, the engineering strain is not really useful for large-displacement problems. If you are uncertain about the strain measure that you need (and no offence but it sound like you are!) then you can refer to the Abaqus theory manual (section 1.4.2 "Strain measures"), to Wikipedia (see attached link), or to any textbook on solid mechanics.

so how can i interpret strain, say E11 from that? antlilog of LE11 is the solution?

I read your answer and really appreciate your lucid explanation.
you mentioned True strain is not a good quantity to use in large deformation theory. ABAQUS manual mentions the same but does not clearly tells why it is not a good option.
I will appreciate if you can throw some light on this.
