Hello,

Today I want to ask about change of cell type.

Before asking, I want to deeply appreciate those who answered my previous question about mRNAs as cell markers.

Here is my question :

I am doing research on angiogenesis, conducting various works with HUVECs.

Recently, I learned that even totally differentiated cells can be converted to totally different types by special techniques. (What I mean is not the change of cell morphology or condition. What I mean is the change of cell type. For example, from skin cell to endothelial cell)

I have been worried because I am not sure whether huvec can change to totally different types of cells by variable factors, such as my undiscovered mistakes.

I did not conduct experiments required for change of cell types but I want to make sure whether cells including huvec can be changed to totally different kinds of cells without professional methods(Transdifferentiation, for example) by other variable factors.

Thank you!
