I have 10 of very ambitious and smart high school students who want to be exposed to wet lab work. They will have access to standard PCR machines and gels. I want to play a game with them “Who did it?” We could isolate the DNA from each of them, amplify by PCR (not multiplexed, just single-well reactions) and run them on a gel. Then, we would compare the pattern to a mystery sample, which would be from one of the students. Based on the pattern, we should get (hopefully) an individual pattern, and identify the mystery.

So, it has to be simple, based on only PCR and gel, and potentially a few restriction enzymes. Any good ideas? I do now want to re-invent the wheel if someone has a working assay already. Thanks.
